Napoli goalkeeper David Ospina suffered an injury on international duty with Colombia and the Partenopei reportedly consider signing free agent Antonio Mirante ahead of the match against Juventus in Serie A.

Alex Meret is out injured after the match against Genoa in the League and last night Ospina suffered a blow when Colombia played against Bolivia in the World Cup Qualifiers.

Napoli announce Meret back injury

Meret’s return from a lumbar vertebra fracture is unknown but Sky Sport Italia reports Ospina is doing better, but that he won’t leave the national team early.

The broadcaster reveals Napoli will organise for his return immediately after the game against Chile next week, hoping he will recover in time for the match against the Bianconeri.

Even if Ospina’s conditions is improving, he’s not certain and Il Mattino reports Mirante could be an idea for the Partenopei.

The former Roma goalkeeper has been without a club since his contract expired in June. The 38-year-old has previous stints with Juventus, Crotone, Siena, Sampdoria, Parma and Bologna.

Mirante has played 368 times in Serie A and could provide valuable experience, as Napoli could have to wait for their two goalkeepers to recover.
