Zdenek Zeman is reportedly on the Cagliari chopping block with Delio Rossi, Walter Zenga, Davide Ballardini and Gianfranco Zola in the running.

The Coach met with President Tommaso Giulini for crisis talks on Friday after a 3-1 home defeat to Juventus.

The Sardinians are the only side without a home victory all season and have dropped into the relegation zone.

Above all, they are struggling to score goals, which is highly unusual for a Zeman team.

Tuttosport claims the favourite to replace Zeman is ex-Fiorentina Coach Rossi, who was famously sacked by the Viola when physically attacking Adem Ljajic in the dugout.

La Repubblica considers former Bologna and Catania boss Zenga to be in pole position.

Other options include Ballardini – a former Cagliari Coach under previous President Massimo Cellino – and local hero Zola.

Zola has worked in Italy as a Coach for the Under-21 side, but never at club level.

It would be a wonderful story for him to take his first Serie A job at the helm of his hometown club, where he also ended his playing career.
