Dino Zoff expects Juventus to achieve a top four finish following the arrival of Serbian star Dusan Vlahovic last week.
The Bianconeri spent €80m to bring the 22-year-old Serbian striker to Turin, leaving Fiorentina fans heartbroken as another star Viola player made the journey north to Piedmont. Massimiliano Allegri’s side currently sit 5th in the Serie A table, one point behind 4th place Atalanta, who have a game in hand.
Speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb, Zoff first discussed the situation at Lazio following the poor January transfer window.
“The Biancoceleste coach said some logical things, now we need to give our best. Even if maybe you don’t even have to say them, you must always give your best.”
He was unsure if Lazio would achieve a top four finish this season.
“We’ll have to see, so far the results have been mixed and it’s difficult to make a prediction. Of course, Lazio have always been in the top positions in recent years. The chances are there.”
The 1982 World Cup winner touched on Vlahovic’s €80m move to Juventus in last month’s transfer window.
“It looked like he would have to go one way or the other, but I thought he would leave at the end of the season.”
Zoff spoke about the hefty investment made to bring Vlahovic to Turin.
“I’d say so, for what he’s showed. And if he repeats himself he’ll certainly be a great signing.”
He commented on the fact that a number of Fiorentina stars have joined Juventus in recent years.
“When players are in demand from teams that are considered more important, it’s hard to keep them.”
Finally, Zoff highlighted that Juventus cannot afford to miss out on the Champions League next season.
“Now it’s a must to finish in the top 4.”
