Zdenek Zeman says “others have decided” that Francesco Totti will no longer play for Roma after this weekend.

The Giallorossi legend confirmed yesterday that he will play his final match for the club against Genoa, but the wording of his statement indicated he could go on playing elsehwere.

“He didn’t say he wanted to finish with football,” Zeman pointed out, speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Others have decided for him that he won’t play for Roma anymore. I hope Francesco decides to have fun and enjoy himself again.

“I can’t see him with other clubs in Italy, abroad yes.

“I know him, and it will have been difficult for him to maintain balance and respect. I’m not surprised though, I know what Francesco has given Roma, carrying them on his shoulders.

“Totti has built-up so many Coaches over the years, they didn’t build him.”

Zeman was also asked whether he thinks Juventus can win the Champions League this season.

“It’s always an uncertain challenge with Real [Madrid], anything can happen. [Max] Allegri is the leader of a very strong group though, and being able to involve [Mario] Mandzukic in the defensive phase has been the key element.

“I’m curious to find out if Cristiano Ronaldo can break through that Juventus defensive wall.”
