Doria have claimed that the striker’s wage requests are far too high in the current climate, but Christian Maifredi has told TMW that he doesn’t think that is the case.

“Perhaps they are outside of the parameters for Sampdoria,” he stated. “I personally think it’s a modest request when compared to what we could have asked for a player who is doing so well.

“The club are understandably looking to reduce costs, but Zaza cost them nothing as he joined on a free transfer.

“For his age and the amount of goals he is scoring, his salary demands are in line with the current market.”

Zaza, 21, is making an impression on loan in Serie B where he has scored 14 League goals so far this term.

“I’ve met with Sampdoria on two occasions where both parties reiterated their stance,” Maifredi added. “I don’t have any other meetings planned as I don’t think there is the need…”

The former Atalanta” data-scaytid=”26″>Atalanta player has a contract at Marassi until June 2014. He’s been linked with clubs such as Juventus” data-scaytid=”28″>Juventus and Milan.
