Nicolò Zaniolo is out of the Roma squad for tonight’s Serie A match against Fiorentina, officially due to a stomach bug.

It kicks off at the Stadio Olimpico at 19.45 GMT.

The Giallorossi released the list of players called up for the game and Zaniolo was not included, along with suspended Roger Ibanez and injured Georginio Wijnaldum.

Reports from Sportitalia suggest Zaniolo was debilitated after suffering from a stomach bug overnight.

There had already been tension around the Italy international, who was jeered by Roma fans during Thursday’s Coppa Italia Round of 16 victory over Genoa.

It has been reported that Roma have not scheduled a meeting to discuss a new contract, suggesting he will be sold this summer, as his deal is due to expire in June 2024.

There were even reports last night that Tottenham Hotspur could make an offer in January, with the price-tag dropping from €50m in the circumstances to €30m.
