According to Sky Sport Italia, Zaniolo picked up a calf issue in training and has been sent to the Villa Stuart clinic in Rome for further tests.

Zaniolo would be only the latest absentee, as Kostas Manolas, Daniele De Rossi, Lorenzo Pellegrini, Cengiz Under and Javier Pastore are all on the treatment table with muscular problems.
Add to that, Aleksandar Kolarov, Federico Fazio and Edin Dzeko will miss the Empoli match as they are suspended.
