Inter captain Javier Zanetti has again warned about the dangers of playing football in freezing temperatures.

The Argentine made the claim after last night’s 4-4 draw with Palermo in wintry conditions at the Stadio Meazza.

“It's true that there were no injuries, but it was a huge risk on a pitch that is bad even when the weather conditions aren’t as severe as they were tonight,” he noted.

“The pitch influenced things a lot. I don't know how many teams could have played this type of game, but the Lega, and the referee in particular, decided to play so we played.”

Inter fought back to twice lead the game against the Rosanero, but the Sicilian outfit responded in a game which saw Diego Milito hit four and Fabrizio Miccoli a hat-trick.

“We’re hugely disappointed after what we did in this match – a strange game,” Zanetti noted. “I think Inter and Palermo both did everything they could to win and in the end it produced a draw.”

The Nerazzurri’s Scudetto comeback has taken a bit of a blow in recent weeks and they’ll now face a trip to Roma on Saturday.

“We expect a tough game and it will be even trickier because they've just lost [against Cagliari] while we weren't able to win tonight.

“Both sides will be determined to get the three points.”
