Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini said he will “sleep on it” amid rumours Gennaro Gattuso will be sacked.

The Coach had already been hanging by a thread and tonight a 2-1 defeat away to Bari raised reports a dismissal is imminent.

In fact, several sources consider the sacking to be official, although President Zamparini denied this.

“I am not going to talk about football tonight,” he told ANSA news agency.

“I will sleep on it and talk about this tomorrow. I haven’t made any decisions yet. All this talk of having already fired him is rubbish, I haven’t spoken to anyone.”

Nonetheless, there are also reports that Beppe Iachini has been contacted and will arrive in Sicily tomorrow to sign a contract.

Gattuso took over at Palermo over the summer after a brief experience as player-manager of Swiss side Sion FC.

Rosanero team manager Igor Budan was asked about the sacking rumours and told Sky Sport Italia it wasn’t up to him.

“We are giving less than we can. On Friday evening we were worried, as after a good performance we still conceded a goal. The Spezia” data-scaytid=”19″>Spezia game left us upset and we confirmed that by losing today.

“I am here to talk about the game. The President makes the decisions, so he will be the one to make any dismissal official or not.

“Gattuso is disappointed and spoke to the lads. Up until today the team had a great rapport with him.”

Palermo have seven points from six rounds, having won two, drawn one and lost three.
