Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini claims Napoli benefited from refereeing decisions and media bias too.

The Partenopei are furious at the four-match ban imposed on Gonzalo Higuain for his furious reaction to a red card in the 3-1 defeat to Udinese.

“Considering the lad’s history, it seems excessive,” Zamparini told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“People should keep an eye on how he behaves in general and is always fouled repeatedly. That should be taken into account as well when passing judgment.

“I don’t know if Napoli risk losing second place now, but Roma have a Coach I admire a great deal who is making the difference. Technically the Partenopei are superior, but the Giallorossi have Luciano Spalletti.”

However, Zamparini insists Napoli protest too much at bias against them from referees and media, because it’s a sliding scale.

“We’ve been talking about this for 30 years. There are many different factors that can influence the officials.

“Don’t forget Palermo have not received a single penalty this season and Napoli beat us thanks to a non-existent spot-kick. If that penalty had been awarded to us against Napoli, it would’ve sparked absolute chaos!

“If a referee doesn’t give a penalty to Juventus, he is torn apart in the papers the day after. If it happens to Palermo, nobody cares…”
