Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly failed in a deadline-day double swoop for Juventus defender Daniele Rugani and Milan midfielder Franck Kessie.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport’s Nicolo Schira, Wolves received green lights from Juve and Milan to negotiate personal terms with the pair.

The Premier League side were linked with a €30m bid for Rugani, while it is understood Milan had agreed to sell Kessie for €28m, but Schira claims both players rejected the move.

English clubs can longer make any signings due to their transfer window having closed at 17:00 BST on Thursday.

In the meantime, Wolves have given striker Patrick Cutrone their No 10 jersey following his recent move from Milan.
