Bianconeri general manager Beppe Marotta has already confirmed that they’ll sign the 27-year-old either in the winter or when his contract expires at the end of the season.

“For now I’m here and I play for Zenit,” Witsel explained to TASS.

“I don’t know if I’ll leave this club in the winter, the decision is not up to me. The leadership will decide my future and whether I’m to leave St Petersburg.

“In the summer I could have gone to Juventus, but the transfer wasn’t authorised by our Coach [Mircea Lucescu].

“Of course, at the time it was a bad situation for me but when I returned I started working again.”
