Gomez was subbed in in the second half at the Allianz Stadium earlier this week, but Gasperini left him out of the Atalanta squad to face Roma today.

The paper reports Gomez’s “wrong” behaviour of Gomez is behind his exclusion.

The player and the coach clashed during the half-time break of Atalanta-Midtjylland in November but days after the confrontation, the two parties had decided to “act professionally” for the “good of Atalanta” until the Christmas break.

Gasperini, however, did notice a behaviour which was not in line with what had been agreed and part of the team did also not like the conduct of their captain.

Gomez, for example, did not celebrate Remo Freuler’s goal against Juventus on Wednesday, making his way to the centre of the pitch wile the rest of his teammates were hugging each other.

The Argentinean was also caught singing the Juventus anthem before the game and Gasperini believes his attitude was not quite the right one over the last few days.

Speaking at a press conference before today’s game Gasperini said Atalanta “have many captains.”

The club “agreed” to drop Gomez for the game against Roma and the player’s agent will reportedly meet Atalanta soon.

Milan are interested in signing him, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, while Inter, Roma, Napoli and PSG could enter the race with favourable conditions.
