Former Chelsea striker Diego Costa was reportedly offered to Atalanta, but coach Gian Piero Gasperini has doubts related to the player’s attitude.

La Dea is short of options up front after Roberto Piccoli was loaned out to Genoa in January and Duvan Zapata suffered an injury that could keep him out of action for almost three months.

The Nerazzurri were eliminated from the Coppa Italia quarter-finals at the hands of Fiorentina yesterday with Gasperini resting his only striker available, Luis Muriel, ahead of Sunday’s Serie A clash against Juventus.

Atalanta are now looking to add depth in attack but can only pick players from the free-agent list. According to Calciomercato.com, Diego Costa was offered to the Nerazzurri and Atalanta and their coach are considering whether to offer the 33-year-old a contract until the end of the season.

However, the Italian tactician seems to have doubts regarding the player’s attitude so it’s unsure that the former Chelsea striker will move to Serie A.

Italy striker Graziano Pellé was also offered to Atalanta, but the former Parma and Southampton striker doesn’t seem to be in Atalanta’s plans. Any potential new signing would only be available for Serie A games as the Nerazzurri have already submitted their Europa League list, which can’t be changed. Diego Costa’s contract with Atletico Mineiro expired in January and he had been in talks with Salernitana during the winter transfer window.
