Ismael Bennacer has just penned a new long term contract with Milan but interested Premier League clubs Arsenal and Liverpool are unlikely to forget about the Algerian midfielder.

The 25-year-old put pen to paper on a new four and a half year contract with the Rossoneri, tying him to the club until June 2027. His wages have been bumped significantly and he now earns around €4.2m net per season plus around €300,000 in add-ons, reflecting his importance to coach Stefano Pioli.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, Bennacer’s new Milan contract includes a €50m release clause, which becomes active in July 2024 and is only exercisable by clubs from abroad, giving Arsenal and Liverpool an accessible price for the talented Algerian midfielder.

Bennacer joined Milan from Empoli in August 2019 in a deal worth around €17.2m. Since his arrival in Lombardy, the Algerian has made 129 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing eight assists in that time.

4 thought on “Why Arsenal and Liverpool still have Bennacer transfer hope despite Milan extension”
  1. The low release clause is not a pleasant one. Fantastic player who’s going to be even better in 18 months.

  2. Release clause does seem quite low. It would be fine if you take English clubs out of the equation but they will continue to financially ruin it for everyone else.
