Lega Serie A has approved a new COVID protocol, but according to La Gazzetta dello Sport at least three games won’t go ahead on Sunday: CagliariBologna, TorinoFiorentina and UdineseAtalanta.

Torino, Bologna and Udinese were ordered into quarantine for five days on Wednesday, meaning the players can’t leave their homes, let alone play or train, until next Monday.

Their games against Atalanta, Inter and Fiorentina were declared abandoned on Thursday and according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the same will happen on Sunday when a new round of Serie A games is in program.

Lega Serie A has blamed local health authorities saying that their ‘confusing and incoherent decisions’ created ‘any sort of damage to the Italian sporting system with devastating economic effects.’

A new COVID protocol was approved yesterday, stating that games must go ahead if 13 players, including one goalkeeper, are fit.

Lega Serie A is also ready to take health authorities to an Arbitration Tribunal after they decided to bar four clubs from playing on Thursday.

Nevertheless, three clubs are still not allowed to play on Sunday due to ASL’s quarantine orders.

Salernitana were also barred from playing against Venezia yesterday but could be given the green light to face against Hellas Verona on Sunday. The chaos is not over.
