Sarri left Napoli in 2018 after finishing runner-up in Serie A with 91 points.

His relationship with Aurelio De Laurentiis had collapsed and the Napoli president accused Sassi of forcing him to change coach after the 2017-18 campaign.

According to several reports in Italy, Gennaro Gattuso will leave the Stadio Maradona at the end of the season and Sarri is one of the leading candidates to replace him.

Fiorentina also monitor the 62-year-old with La Viola expected to part company with Cesare Prandelli in the summer.

Reports in Italy had suggested Sarri met Fiorentina directors last week, but both the coach’s agent and the club denied the meeting.

Sarri had also held talks with Roma at the beginning of the season.

The former Chelsea and Juventus coach is ready to return, provided Juventus free him, and would pick a job in Serie A rather than a new experience abroad.
