Liverpool and Manchester City fans exposed banners against the Super League after 12 elite European clubs announced the competition on Sunday night.

The Reds faced Leeds in the Premier League last night. Some fans burned Liverpool shirts outside Elland Road, where a plane flew past with the message “Say no to the Super League.”

Leeds players wore shirts against the Super League during the warmup.

For now, reactions from Serie A fans have been way less strong.

Neither Juventus, Inter or Milan fans exposed banners outside the stadiums or their clubs’ training centres as of today.

Juventus’ Curva Sud have expressed their disapproval on social media, writing: “Hate modern football forever.”

Loris Grancini, the leader of Juventus’ ultras group Vikings told Adnkronos: “Whoever loves football and has followed the team under the rain and the snow, at home and away, can’t like the Super League.”

Italian police in 2019 arrested 12 leading Juventus ultras as part of an investigation into violence and extortion linked to match ticket sales.

Ultras groups have been banned from the Allianz Stadium since.

Grancini was sentenced to five years in prison for attempted extortion against the owner of a ticket company in Milan from whom he wanted to get tickets for sporting events.

Inter’s Curva Nord do also disapprove of the Super League. One of its leaders, Renato Bossetti, said: “Football isn’t about Super Leagues, it’s about the people.

“Otherwise, we’ll be following in the footsteps of the NBA and their ‘rubbish’.

“We’re not interested in watching Inter vs Real Madrid and Inter vs Manchester City if we’re not going away to Prague, Warsaw or even Benevento on matchday 24 of a league season.”

Social media are filled with mixed reactions from Serie A fans all around the world.
