Federico Bernardeschi was named MOTM in JuventusCagliari and fans reacted to his brilliant performance on social media.

The Italy winger hadn’t scored for 513 minutes in Serie A.

His last goal in Italy’s top flight was dated back to August 2020 against Sampdoria, with Maurizio Sarri in charge of the Bianconeri.

Bernardeschi admitted he had had a ‘tough time’ under Andrea Pirlo last term, although his difficult time in Turin last season helped him improve.

Juventus fans harshly criticised the former Fiorentina man in 2020-21, but he’s been stepping up over the last month, scoring once and delivering two assists.

Bernardeschi finally shines but faces uncertain future at Juventus

He has become a regular starter under Massimiliano Allegri and was named MVP by all Italian sports papers for Tuesday’s game against Cagliari.

He was given a standing ovation by Juventus fans at the Allianz Stadium when he was subbed off and the Bianconeru supporters metaphorically did the same on social media, where the 27-year-old has been praised by many.

Others joked by saying ‘Berna’ could have won the Ballon d’Or, or asking: ‘Who needs Ronaldo?’

  1. About time he produced some goods, there has been an improvement to his game this season for sure, but he’s hardly a world beater or the answer to Juve’s problems!

I hope he proves me wrong, I’d happily eat humble pie if he finally lives up to his hype, but I still have my doubts.

  2. I always get the sense that he had this laissez faire bordering on prima donna attitude off the pitch… “im that good so i won’t push to get better”.. that kinda train of thought. funny enough as the hairstyles become more conventional, his game has improved. it’s a weird contrast i know but it gives u a sense of the personality behind the man, which of course will impact on his performance. I am sure allegri gave him a one on one kicking up the backside.. “you know u are better than this…less perms more performance” lol. glad for him though. seems to be maturing now.

  3. One fortunate goal in over 500 days your an after thought pal, the only reason you’re in Turin was to block Napoli from signing you, turned out to be a blessing for them

  4. Critics, not haters!! Let’s use the proper English!

A few good performances against the weaker teams is no redemption. Let’s see him doing the business, consistently, and performing against the stronger teams before shouting from the rooftops.

I still believe he is one of those players who would flourish playing for the mid-table clubs, as he did while at Fiorentina.

  5. Oh were still here…I mean, If i dont like a player because I think he is only slightly above average, the type tbst the coach himself has to kick in the rear to send a message, how does tbat make me a hater? That suggests im blinded by my hate for said player. The opposite os true, I wanted him ro do well but realized over time he is average. Even a broken clock is roghr twice a day, even average players score from time to time.

  6. ill beleive it when he gets consistent. i think this role fits him better, however, because we have sloths in midfield, hes taking a lot of responsibility. we shall see when reinforcements come on over time

  7. Are we kidding. He has a decent game against a terrible team. Scores his first goal in 18 months that should have been saved by any decent goalie and we are waxing his praises? He is a totally predictable player who makes the same move all the time -cutting into his left- and he’ll be back to his normal average self any time soon now.

  8. His veracity which makes him an asset to any coach has also been his undoing. On the right of the a 4-3-3 is his best position, he doesn’t have the break out speed, but he is able to drop back in a creative role and cut inside using his preferred left foot. Only problem is that is also where Dybala is best in a 4-3-3.
