Inter star Nicolò Barella is suspended for today’s match against Torino, giving Simone Inzaghi the chance to experiment with how to replace the Italy midfielder, who will miss at least one of the two Champions League legs against Liverpool.

The Italy international is serving a one-match ban against the Granata and will miss his second Serie A game this season.

Inzaghi rested the 24-year-old against Spezia, which, to date, is the only league match missed by the former Cagliari man this term.

Barella has played a key role for the Nerazzurri this season, scoring one goal and delivering eight assists.

He will also be suspended in the first leg of Inter’s Round of 16 clash against Liverpool.

Barella was shown a straight red card in the last game against Real Madrid and he now hopes to get just a one-match ban, being available for the return leg at Anfield Road.

Inzaghi replaced Barella with Roberto Gagliardini at Spezia and should do the same against Torino tonight even if Arturo Vidal is also an option.

Stefano Sensi and Matias Vecino are also available in the middle of the park, but they are unlikely to start against Torino, let alone against Liverpool.

  1. Please just offload Vecino during winter, he does not deseve the champions medal. No contribution at all
