Napoli have unveiled a new kit they will wear to pay tribute to Diego Armando Maradona, one year after his death.

The legendary striker died from a heart attack in Tigre, Argentina, on November 25, 2020.

At that time, Napoli released a new fourth kit with white and light blue stripes, which remembered Argentina’s shirt.

One year later, Napoli have dropped a new kit to pay tribute to the most iconic player in the club’s history.

The Azzurri have released the picture on social media and added that Luciano Spalletti’s men will wear it during the next three Serie A games against Hellas Verona Inter and Lazio.

“Napoli will pay tribute to Diego Armando Maradona with a celebratory shirt made by EA7 which the players will wear for the club’s three Serie A matches in November against Verona, Inter and Lazio,” the statement read.

“One year on from the passing of the legend, Napoli will honour Diego Armando Maradona, an emblematic figure of his era and an undisputed worldwide footballing icon, by wearing a specially-designed shirt named Maradona Game.

“The shirt features an image of Maradona superimposed over a large fingerprint, representing the club’s desire to pass on the Argentine hero’s legacy to the younger generations of the city of Napoli.

“The limited-edition Maradona Game will be available in three different colours, a production run of 1926 per design, the number itself a tribute to the year the club was founded. These will be available for purchase on the Web Store SSC Napoli, the Amazon Brand Store, the Official Store SSCN as well as a number of other distributors.

“The version worn for the Napoli v Verona match will be available from November 7. A portion of the proceeds from sales will go to charities selected by the club.”

  1. Weird. I follow football thanks to Maradona. So I’m Argentina fan and Napoli is my second team. Now Inter plays against Napoli with Maradona on shirts. Emotional match for me. But, Inter must win to keep steps with Napoli (and Milan).
