Mauro Icardi’s wife Wanda Nara confirmed Napoli are meeting “an intermediary” for the Inter striker.

Reports swirled around this afternoon that Icardi’s wife – who also acts as his agent – was meeting Napoli in Verona.

She simultaneously denied and confirmed parts of the story with a tweet.

“The meeting is with an intermediary. I am in my office in Milan, kisses. 🙂 ”

This essentially confirmed that while she is not herself present, there is a meeting today with Napoli for Icardi’s potential transfer.

Wanda is believed to have taken part via a conference call.

It’s reported President Aurelio De Laurentiis, director of sport Claudio Giuntoli and contracts specialist Andrea Chiavelli are at the encounter in Verona today.

Multiple sources suggest the deal on offer is a wage worth €5m per year, not including bonuses for goals scored and Capocannoniere status.

He’d also be allowed to keep 50 per cent of his image rights, which are worth €2.3m per year.

Inter have so far been adamant they don’t want to sell Icardi, but it’s believed €50m and above would suffice.

Napoli are ready to offer Manolo Gabbiadini (who has been on their wish-list for over a year) plus €30m.

Another option is to propose €42m and negotiate from there.

They see Icardi as the ideal replacement for Gonzalo Higuan, who is joining Juventus for €90m.
