Dusan Vlahovic reveals he wants to carry No9 at Fiorentina and aims to become an ‘important player in the history' at the Artemio Franchi.

The 20-year-old, who has bagged six goals in his 22 Serie A games in his second year and breakthrough season at the club, spoke about his time in quarantine.

“It’s a very complicated situation, we hope that everything will end soon. I’m close to the families who have lost someone,” he told Calciomercato.com. “But I also want to thank all those people who work every day to fight against this pandemic.

“We continue to train every day. The staff have sent us personalised programmes and we try to keep fit, hoping to be able to train all together soon. It’s certainly not easy, also because some of us live in an apartment, but we try to work to be ready.

“The rest of the day, more or less like everyone else, I spend it watching some TV series, rather than playing on the Playstation and talking to my family.”

The Serbia Under-21 international reveals that the club and the players are discussing a possible wage reduction and admits that he doesn’t mind playing in the summer.

“We are discussing the salaries with the club, we will certainly find a solution that will satisfy everyone,” he added. “As for playing in the summer, for me, the only thing that matters is to play with the peace of mind that we have been able to overcome everything.”

The young centre-forward has enjoyed his time in Florence so far and revealed it’s difficult to pick his favourite goal, before admitting he ‘took’ his celebration from Olympique Lyonnais forward Memphis Depay.

“I am very close to Florence. The city is beautiful, and the fans have welcomed me. I would like to become an important player in the history of this great club.

“For a striker, all the goals are beautiful, but out of importance, I will pick the one against Inter at the Franchi. It was great to be able to celebrate under the Fiesole.

“I took my celebration from Memphis Depay, but I think I will change it soon. Especially when I’m away from home it risks being interpreted as a provocation, and that’s absolutely not my intention.”

Vlahovic has been playing with No29 this term and has been doing well, but he has revealed that he would like to take over the No9 shirt at the Artemio Franchi.

“The No9 is one of the heaviest numbers in Viola’s history and of course I would like to wear it,” he said. “It would be an extra incentive and also an honour.”
