Sampdoria coach Claudio Ranieri said President Massimo Ferrero ‘awaits a decision from above’ but claimed ‘any decision will bring chaos’.

The Blucerchiati have been one of the hardest-hit sides in Serie A but the coach confirmed that the infected players ‘have all recovered’ after testing positive for coronavirus.

“They have all recovered, it was not nice to hear that they were infected. Thanking God, I spoke to them from time to time, in strength and in spirit,” he told Radio Anch’io Sport.

The coach also revealed that he has a lot of questions regarding the possible resumption and claimed the decision should be left ‘to those who must take this responsibility’.

“The players are like in Formula 1, can we push them to the maximum? Will a month of preparation be enough to play three games a week? Maybe we should be able to make five substitutions, if not, we will bring them to maximum stress, especially those affected by the virus.

“In any case, for me it will always be a distorted championship, because the usual regularity has not been allowed, then I think it’s correct to play for the Scudetto and salvation if we have to.”

“The President has never told us that he wants to quit, he thinks about the health of our lads. He is waiting for the decision from above. Any decision will bring chaos, there will always be some discontent.

“I leave the super-hot potato to those who must take this responsibility.”

Monza CEO, and former Milan director, Adriano Galliani suggested that European Leagues should push the next season to start and conclude in a calendar year.

“It’s not a bad suggestion,” Ranieri said. “Then, Galliani is a great manager.”
