Vlahovic hits back at ‘banal’ questions over Juventus coach Allegri

Dusan Vlahovic hit back at the media for asking ‘banal questions’ about coach Max Allegri, as his goal allowed Juventus to beat Torino in the Derby della Mole. ‘We have to take it one game at a time.’

The Bianconeri badly needed a boost after defeats to Milan and Maccabi Haifa, which saw the squad placed into a training retreat.

This was their first away victory of the season in all competitions, decided by Vlahovic at the back post when Danilo flicked on a Juan Cuadrado corner.

“We knew that it would not be an easy match, as it’s the derby, Torino are a very tough team and we were on their own turf in front of their fans,” Vlahovic told DAZN.

“I congratulate Toro on their performance, but we need to be consistent, to keep going like this and remain united.”

A defeat here would’ve seen Torino leapfrog Juve in the standings, so the pressure was on at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.

“We take it one game at a time. Obviously, everyone know what Juve’s objectives are and that we never give up, but we have to take it one game at a time.”

The striker was asked if the team continued to follow coach Allegri and he reacted with disdain.

“These are rather banal questions, of course we are following the guidance of the coach. We did what we had to do today, which was to win, achieve our objective, and now need to continue like this.

“Difficulties help you to grow and you learn more from these moments than successful ones. I might play well or badly, but I am certain that I am giving 100 per cent every time. We won today and that was fundamental.”

Serbia national team coach Dragan Stojkovic was in the stands today watching both Vlahovic and Filip Kostic play, so that was extra motivation.

“We spoke a couple of days ago, I knew he was coming to the stadium. I think I owe him dinner now!”
