Emiliano Viviano has thanked Palermo and Italy boss Cesare Prandelli for his return to the international set-up.

The goalkeeper is back in the squad after rupturing knee ligaments in pre-season training with Inter. He joined the Rosanero in January.

The goalkeeper is back in the squad after rupturing knee ligaments in pre-season training with Inter. He joined the Rosanero in January.

“Getting back into the international set-up was one of my primary objectives,” the former Bologna No 1 noted.

“To have been able to do so quickly after my return to action is particularly pleasing and makes me proud.

“I’m grateful to Palermo as they have allowed me to play with continuity for such an important club,” he added.

“I also want to thank Prandelli who has shown some great faith in me.”

The Azzurri tactician picked four goalkeepers for this week’s international friendly against America at Marassi.

The other three custodians are Juventus’ Gigi Buffon, Morgan De Sanctis of Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain net-minder Salvatore Sirigu.
