Serie A giants Juventus visit La Liga outfit Villarreal at the Estadio de la Ceramica for the first leg of this Champions League last-16 tie. It’s a first competitive meeting between these two clubs, and one the Old Lady start as underdogs to win.

Villarreal vs. Juventus odds

1 – Both teams not to score – 19/20

2 – Juventus to win to nil – 4/1

3 – Under 2.5 goals – 13/19

4 – Juventus to win 1-0 – 44/5

5 – Vlahovic to score first – 11/2

The only previous meeting between these clubs was a 2009 pre-season friendly in Turin that Villarreal won 4-1. El Submarino Amarillo won 4-1 away from home at the weekend in beating Granada in La Liga, but a repeat of that result looks highly improbable on Wednesday. If you fancy it though, the odds are 70/1.

Juventus may have dropped two points from a winning position against Torino in the Derby della Mole on Friday, but Max Allegri’s side could prove excellent value as the betting underdogs here. Villarreal did taste continental glory in winning last season’s Europa League, but the Bianconeri are unbeaten in 12 in the league and have only lost one of their last 16 in all competitions.

Juve topped their Champions League group ahead of defending European champions Chelsea, winning five of their matches. They did suffer a humbling 4-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge, but they put in a far more impressive showing overall than Villarreal.

The Yellow Submarine came second to Manchester United – who they beat on penalties in last season’s Europa League final – although they did qualify for the last 16 ahead of Atalanta. Even so, Unai Emery’s side are down in sixth in La Liga and face a battle to get back into Europe next season.

That said, the Yellow Submarine have been in decent form of late, unbeaten in their last four games with three victories. They are a tough team to break down, and Juve will need to stay patient. If they do though, the Old Lady could come away with a valuable lead at the midway point of this tie.

One thought on “Villarreal vs. Juventus Predictions & Betting Tips”
  1. Villarreal probably favourites as they’re at home. Question is, can Juve do it over 2 games? They need the CL money for going further this year and the top 4 for next season.

Allegri is too negative too, and will the support be there for Vlahovic like it wasn’t v Torino?

On paper that team above looks good enough, with Marota and Kean the only real question marks.
