Milan were struggling for most of the first half against Liverpool but one minute and 48 seconds of magic from Rebic and Brahim Diaz helped the Rossoneri to a 2-1 lead at the break.
Alexander Trent-Arnold scored the opening goal after only nine minutes and Ismael Bennacer was booked for handball inside the area four minutes later, when Liverpool were awarded a penalty.
