Former Napoli star Dries Mertens was in the stands to watch the Partenopei’s 4-1 win over Liverpool last night wearing a Diego Maradona shirt and visited his former teammates in the dressing room after the match.
It was a fantastic night for the Partenopei, who trashed Liverpool 4-1 in the opening match of the Champions League Group A.
Mertens, who left the club at the end of his contract in June, joining Galatasaray on a free transfer, was in the stands at the Stadio Maradona last night and seemed to have the time of his life watching his former club destroy the Reds.
The Belgian striker was seen wearing a Maradona shirt and shouting Diego Simeone’s name after Napoli’s third goal in a video that has gone viral on social media.
