Piotr Zielinski was the Man Of The Match against Liverpool yesterday and Gazzetta wrote Luciano Spalletti ‘gave a footballing lesson’ to Jurgen Klopp.

Napoli trashed Liverpool 4-1 in the opening match of the Champions League Group A at the Stadio Maradona last night. Poland star Zielinski scored a brace and was the Man Of The Match according to Italian sports papers.

It was hard, however, to pick the best Napoli player last night in a perfect performance from the Partenopei, described by La Gazzetta dello Sport as a ‘footballing lesson’ of Spalletti to his counterpart Jurgen Klopp.

All Napoli starters received ratings above 7/10 on Gazzetta’s Pagelle with the best being Zielinski (8.5), Kim, Zambo Anguissa, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Giovanni Simeone (8).

Anguissa got the same rating as Zielinski on Il Corriere dello Sport (8.5) and Tuttosport (9).

Luis Diaz scored Liverpool’s only goal of the night and was the only Red receiving a passing grade from each of the three main Italian sports papers.
