Rafael Leao frightened Milan supporters when he seemed to pull up with a muscular problem after the final whistle against Bologna, but Stefano Pioli insists they should be ‘very happy’ that he had cramp.

The Portuguese talent was making his official debut with the Number 10 jersey on his back and hit the woodwork during this evening’s 2-0 win at the Stadio Dall’Ara.

At the final whistle, he kicked the ball into the air in celebration, but then visibly pulled up clutching the back of his thigh.

While the other players were shaking hands and swapping shirts, Leao was lying on the ground getting treatment.

However, coach Pioli assured in the press conference that it was only a bit of cramp on a hot night, especially as it is the opening round of the season.

“I am very happy that he had cramp, because it means he gave his all.”

In his interview with DAZN, Pioli had also explained that Leao has “superpowers” and needs to put those at the service of his teammates.
