Carlo Ancelotti and Gennaro Gattuso had a frosty reunion ahead of the Spanish Supercup between Real Madrid and Valencia, as evidently the former Milan friends have not resolved their personal differences.
They briefly said hello and made the bare minimum contact while crossing paths on the pitch.
The build-up to the match was dominated by discussion around the breakdown of their friendship, having worked together to win everything with the Rossoneri.
Ancelotti was the coach and Gattuso his midfield enforcer, with them describing their rapport as one of father and son, or even of older brother to his younger charge.
Things deteriorated after Gattuso replaced Ancelotti as coach of Napoli and openly criticised some of the work his predecessor had done with the squad, especially their fitness levels.
