But speaking as his team prepared to take on Manchester City in tonight’s International Champions Cup match in Philadelphia, Kovac issued a short response when quizzed about Vidal.

“At the moment, Arturo is recovering from an injury. We hope he can come back as soon as possible.

“The future with him? I can’t say anything more.”

Vidal has been at Bayern since 2015, when he signed from Juventus.
