Paris Saint-Germain and Italy’s Marco Verratti believes he made the right decision in moving to France, but someday wants to return to an Italian club.

The 22-year-old has been in the sights of a number of Italian teams ever since leaving the peninsula for PSG in 2012, most prominently being linked with Juventus.

However, on from recently renewing his contract with PSG until 2019, the midfielder took the recent friendly against Inter as an opportunity to discuss his situation.

“One day I want to play in Serie A,” Verratti has considered, in quotes picked up today by the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Back when I used to play for Pescara I was sought after by a lot of clubs, but if I'd ended up in Juventus I doubt they would have given me the same space that I have with PSG.

“I am in a great club and I think I made the right choice, because in Italy there is less faith in youth. I, on the other hand, believe that if a player is good, then he should play regardless.

“PSG can still win everything. We are third in the league, but we'll climb back up. In the Champions League we'll try going as far as we can.”

Verratti was complimentary of Inter, who his side defeated 1-0 in Morocco before the turn of the year.

“The arrival of [Coach Roberto] Mancini did a great deal of good to the Nerazzurri, but he needs some time to work.

“He is a great Coach and he'll know how to create the right conditions for Inter to fight for the third place.”

Verratti was of course asked about Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has been linked with a shock move to Roma.

“Zlatan is a leader here, he keeps the changing room united and I don't think he wants to go anywhere.

“As for the national team, I've had a great relationship with [Coach Antonio] Conte from day one. He always called me up for the national team, but it will be up to me to convince him that I must play.”
