Paris Saint-Germain and Italy midfielder Marco Verratti insists he’s not worth €100m – “no player is worth that”.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a number of clubs, including Juventus and Milan, but it has been suggested that PSG would demand at least €100m.

“No player should be worth that kind of money,” Verratti told reporters at Coverciano today.

“I started from nothing, I laugh in the face of figures like that. It’s bad, because that makes you think one player can solve a game alone.

“I started from nothing, I laugh in the face of figures like that. It’s bad, because that makes you think one player can solve a game alone.

“I don’t fell I’m worth that figure.

“It’s nice to have a lot of clubs interested in me, but I’m thinking about winning the Champions League with PSG and improving myself.

“Every year could be the magical one that you remember for the rest of your life.

“I hope it’s a great year, but it’s not the time to talk about the transfer market and I’m not planning to leave Paris where I’m very happy. PSG are one of the five or six best teams in Europe.”

Verratti then discussed his role with the Azzurri, and assured he’s happy to play in any position.

“There’s not a lot of time to work, so maybe that’s why I change roles a lot. I feel good with [Daniele] De Rossi though.

“Everyone wants to play, I’ve never had a problem playing different roles in different formations. I have a lot of roles in midfield and I think I can cover just about all of them.

“We’re representing a country, and we always have to be happy. De Rossi and [Claudio] Marchisio are great players and it would be a pleasure to stay alongside them.

“It would be a nice midfield, but it’s up to the CT [Giampiero Ventura]. I’m available.”

Finally, the midfielder spared a word for Gianluca Lapadula, who has been given his first call-up at the age of 26.

“I’m happy, I was a fan of his last year,” Verratti said.

“Pescara was a stepping home for him, for me and also for [Ciro] Immobile. Pescara is a good place where you can breathe football.”
