Marco Verratti believes Mario Balotelli “can give a lot to Italy” if he maintains his form for Nice.

The striker is coming off two poor seasons at Liverpool and Milan, but has scored six goals in his first give games for the French club.

“I’m glad Balotelli scored again,” Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Verratti told Rai after Super Mario’s winner against Lorient yesterday.

“He’s still young and he can give a lot to the national team. I knew Mario would be reborn in France.

“Of course, four or five games isn’t enough, it takes consistency. I hope he finds himself in Nice, because a player like him can help the national team.”

Verratti grew up as a Juventus fan, and sees the Bianconeri as rivals for the Champions League.

“They’re absolutely at the level of the strongest teams in Europe and they can go far. They’re among PSG’s rivals for the final victory in the Champions League.”
