Andrea Mandorlini praised his Verona’s side’s spirit and attack shown against Genoa, but admits they still ‘lack balance’.

The Gialloblu had to fight from two goals down at home to the Grifone to earn a point in Week 4’s midweek clash, to leave their Coach positive, but not overly satisfied.

“We had two clear chances to score, but then Matri punished us and scored with his,” began Mandorlini in post-match analysis.

“We had two clear chances to score, but then Matri punished us and scored with his,” began Mandorlini in post-match analysis.

“It was a blow, the team never gave up, we went to 0-2 but we never gave up. I must also thank the trust of the fans, which helped to turn around a tough game.

“We could also have won, the group has put everything into attack and created the chances. We deserved three points, but we also risked losing it.

“There is still little balance, Genoa took advantage of some dangerous counter-attacks, but Verona has a big heart and a great desire, so I am happy.”

Artur Ionita is making a name for himself, with two goals in his last two appearances.

“He was great, he created some great scoring chances. He then scored a great headed goal.

“At the moment we are very happy with him, even if he has a bit to learn in where he is in the field.”
