Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane expects an attacking Juventus tomorrow, and says “it’s an honour” to play against Gianluigi Buffon.

The Merengues hold a 3-0 lead from the first leg in Turin, so are huge favourites to go through in tomorrow night’s Champions League second leg.

“It will be difficult, we’re playing against a great team,” Varane insisted in the pre-match Press conference.

“In football everything is possible, so Juve will come here to try and win, so we’re expecting a difficult game against an opponent that will fight to the end.

“We know they have to attack, but we won’t try to keep it 0-0, we’re not built for that. We’ll try to win, but we know it’ll be difficult.

“Paulo Dybala’s absence? Dybala is an important player for Juventus and he won’t be there tomorrow, but Juventus have many players of that level.

“We know that Juve will want to push hard and whoever comes in for Dybala will give us a difficult game.”

If Madrid go through tomorrow they’ll be in the Semi-Finals again, can they make it three in a row?

“It’s true that we believe and we think about, we have a lot of experience in this competition but first we have to think about tomorrow’s match, which will be a difficult one. We have to take it step-by-step.

“We have a lot of experience and quality, we’ve proven that in the past, we know how hard it is to get a third consecutive Champions League, but we’ll take it game-by-game.”

Gonzalo Higuain is a former Real Madrid striker, and the Bianconeri’s main goalscoring threat.

“He’s a great player,” Varane said.

“He always keeps the defenders on their toes and he’s a constant dangers for all defences. On a personal level I have good memories of Gonzalo.

“He always had a great desire to encourage everyone and play all the games. He’s a great player and a person who left a great impression on me”.

Tomorrow could be Gianluigi Buffon’s last Champions League game, with the Juve goalkeeper likely to retire at the end of the season.

“Well firstly Buffon is a legend for everything he’s done in football, and he’s a wonderful person. I don’t know if this will be his goodbye, but he looks very motivated and happy, like he wants to play.

“I don’t know if he’ll continue or not, that’s not for me to answer. It’s an honour to play against players of that level, and a player of that quality.”
