Ernesto Valverde admits Roma “had very clear scoring opportunities” and warns Barcelona aren’t in the Champions League semi-final yet.

The Blaugrana won the first leg of their quarter-final 4-1 at Camp Nou, though Edin Dzeko’s own goal leaves a small window of opportunity.

“It’s a struggle to win every game. We got a good result, but we haven’t done anything yet,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“Marc-Andre Ter Stegen had some tough saves to make and Roma had very clear scoring opportunities.

“Roma are a good side, it was difficult for us to break down and get past the first line of pressure. It was a pretty even game.”

Barcelona have benefited from five own goals in the Champions League this season, compared to six from Leo Messi.

“If you don’t push forward and put pressure on opponents in their own penalty area, you don’t get own goals.”

Roma protested that they were denied two penalties, one for a Samuel Umtiti nudge on Edin Dzeko, another as the trip on Lorenzo Pellegrini might’ve been inside the box.

“I saw penalties that we weren’t awarded tonight as well. Everyone sees things their own way.”

Valverde also revealed Sergio Busquets might not necessarily play in the second leg.

“He asked to be substituted, as he was playing with pain-killing injections.”
