Valladolid boss Pacheta admits 18-year-old defender Iván Fresneda, linked with Juventus and Newcastle, ‘will leave.’

The U19 Spain international is under contract with Valladolid until June 2025 but has attracted interest from many top clubs, including Juventus.

The Bianconeri will be looking for a new right-back, given that Juan Cuadrado is expected to leave at the end of his contract on June 30.

“Ivan is 18, but does things like a 30-year-old,” his coach said at a press conference on Wednesday, as quoted by DAZN.

“I think he will be sold, but I have no further information,” he continued. “They would not buy the player he is today, but what he can become in four years. If I were a club owner, I’d have no doubts. If I put myself in the shoes of a coach who needs a right-back, I’d surely buy him.

“If I think about the game against Real Madrid, I see a fantastic product. His stats are amazing and when I think about all these things, I think it’s difficult to keep him here. I’d like to do so, but I know what the club need.”

It remains to be seen if Juventus will be able to make a suitable offer for the 18-year-old given that the new board of directors will take place on January 18.

Massimiliano Allegri admitted on Wednesday that the Bianconeri might not complete new signings in the January transfer window. “The market is useful if we need it. Otherwise, it’s useless to change,” he said.

Fresneda has made nine competitive appearances across all competitions this season. He has only made 11 appearances with Valladolid’s senior team.
