Massimiliano Allegri praises Arek Milik and insists Juventus do not need new signings in January: ‘Young players are improving.’

The Bianconeri got away with a late 1-0 win against Serie A strugglers Cremonese in the first game of the year at the Stadio Zini.

Ex-Napoli star Milik helped the Serie A giants secure all three points thanks to a late free kick.

“We knew about difficulties, Cremonese are a team that presses and runs and we made many technical errors. It’s a nice victory, one more step forward,” Allegri told DAZN.

“The guys did well in the first half, Milik scored a great goal, but it wasn’t easy to win. It’s not easy to face Cremonese.”

Adrien Rabiot had started on the bench but was introduced in the second half.

“He had played the World Cup Final, there were too many players without enough playing time in their legs,” explained Allegri.

“Iling had a good impact, it’s important to have these sorts of players ready to come in, especially now with a game every four days.”

Angel Di Maria missed the game against Cremonese due to an ankle problem, but Allegri hopes the World Cup winner will be available on Saturday when the Bianconeri host Udinese at the Allianz Stadium, in the first match of the year at home.

“Di Maria trained today and it seems that he is feeling better. He has extraordinary quality, and hopefully, he will be available Pogba is also improving, like Vlahovic and Cuadrado, there are still five months remaining.”

The new board of directors will take place on January 18. Does this mean that the Bianconeri won’t make new purchases in the winter transfer window?

“I think the club built an important team, but there are a few players injured at the moment,” said Allegri.

“Many young players are improving, we must be happy knowing that was can still improve. In terms of team depth, we are ok.

“I believe in the club, I cooperate with Cherubini, and he keeps me updated on players, the market is useful if we need it, if not, it’s useless to change. Our team is ok as it is.”

Juventus sit third with 34 points in 16 games, two below second-placed Milan.

  1. Still an unbeaten run. One win pulls another. At the start of the season, we’d have lost this game. Calma.

  2. 4th?! I think someone needs to look at the table themselves and keep quiet whilst adults are talking
