While in Italy the Government will today announce that all sporting events will be played behind closed doors for 30 days to reduce the spread of the virus, in Spain the Health Minister suggested restrictions for games involving Italian clubs.

It was assumed that would mean playing the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 tie Valencia-Atalanta behind closed doors.

However, according to local sports journalist Julio Insa, Valencia have requested and received permission from UEFA to allow their season ticket holders into the Mestalla.

This would mean Atalanta playing in an arena with only home fans.

There were already concerns after the first leg, which ended 4-1 for Atalanta, as four Valencia fans and a local journalist were told to self-isolate after returning from Milan with symptoms of Coronavirus.

Getafe supporters have already written up a petition asking for similar treatment when Inter visit in the Europa League.

Meanwhile, because the vast majority of cases have been in northern Italy, Sevilla do not currently have any restrictions on Roma fans attending their Europa League match.

This should also be the case for Napoli supporters against Barcelona in the Champions League.
