Alessandro Florenzi and Matteo Politano are the latest Italy players to leave Coverciano due to physical issues.

Roberto Mancini has confirmed that the Milan defender and the Napoli winger won’t be available for the Azzurri tomorrow after sustaining minor injuries.

“This morning we have problems with Florenzi and Politano. It was useless to bring them with us,” he said at a press conference today.

Mancini didn’t clarify what sort of injury the Azzurri duo has suffered, but the players are now returning to their clubs ahead of the next weekend’s action.

Mancini has also confirmed that he won’t step down as Italy coach, remaining in charge probably until 2026. Nine of Italy’s 33 players initially called up for the World Cup play-offs have now returned to their clubs.

  1. Surprised it’s only 9 who have left. Might as well play the 11 least experienced and let the majority of the squad go back to their clubs.
