Inter continue to be interested by the proposition of landing ex-Milan midfielder Franck Kessie on a deal from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

The Nerazzurri had originally identified two key conditions as part of a potential deal for Kessie: That the move would initially be on a loan and that Barca would continue to cover part of the Ivorian’s €6.5m per year salary.

The Catalan club have said no outright to the initial terms laid out by Inter.

However, with the negreira case still ongoing and a hefty set of sanctions reported to be heading their way, Barcelona could become more inclined to get a deal done quickly if it helps raise some additional funds for the club.

According to reports in Corriere dello Sport, Barcelona will have fewer reasons to keep hold of Kessie, who signed a four-year contract at the Nou Camp in the summer of 2022, if they are served with severe financial penalties.

Kessie is reported to be keen on a move away from Catalonia and could try to force the club’s hand if a transfer does not appear to be materialising.

There are still a few dots left to be connected before Barcelona allow the Ivorian international to leave the club just a year after signing on.
