Lazio have released a statement on their club website announcing that three fans will receive lifetime bans after being involved in antisemitic behaviour during last Sunday’s Derby della Capitale win over rivals Roma

One fan was pictured wearing a Lazio jersey with the name ‘Hitlerson’ and the number 88 printed on the shirt, whilst a number of antisemitic chants were heard during the game.

The individual wearing the shameful shirt was later identified as a Lazio fan from Germany, who had previously been known to the local authorities.

According to the statement on the Lazio website, two other individuals have been identified as instigators of antisemitic behaviour during last Sunday’s derby at the Stadio Olimpico.

The issue now remains an administrative issue and once the relevant security bodies have concluded their procedures, the three responsible parties will receive lifetime banning orders, preventing them from ever returning to Lazio matches.

The statement read: ”Lazio will strictly apply the Code of Ethics and will order the expulsion from the stadium for life and will stand as a civil party for claims for damages in any criminal proceedings that will follow.”
