Igor Tudor believes Udinese are on the right track and can improve next season, but “it won’t be easy” to replace Rodrigo De Paul if he leaves.

Stefano Okaka’s brace and a Samir header had put the Friulani in complete control, but SPAL scored twice in the second half and threatened an equaliser.

“Hopefully the other results can go our way, but it was important for us to win here, even if we suffered towards the end,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia after a 3-2 victory.

“These games are always difficult. I am happy with what we’ve done and then we’ll have to wait and see what happens. I am happiest at the fact I’ve been able to work with the midfielders to make the team much less passive.

“I think we have the opportunity to play some more entertaining, quality football. I came here to secure safety and then we can build on these elements next season.”

Argentina international De Paul provided a hat-trick of assists today, all of them from dead-ball situations.

“He has improved so much and has a good mentality, so he is ready for the big clubs. If he leaves, it won’t be easy to replace him. The statistics show that between goals and assists, De Paul contributed to almost half of all Udinese’s points tally.

“He has been fundamental this season, but Udinese have always shown themselves capable of finding new De Pauls.”
