Leonardo Semplici thought SPAL deserved something from their 3-2 defeat to Udinese, but “paid for distractions on set plays.”

The Spallini had a rough start at the Dacia Arena, going 3-0 down, but fought back to set up a tense finale in this 3-2 final result.

“We certainly paid for some distractions on set plays and unfortunately it was our own fault on those three goals,” Semplici told Sky Sport Italia.

“We certainly paid for some distractions on set plays and unfortunately it was our own fault on those three goals,” Semplici told Sky Sport Italia.

“It wasn’t a bad performance overall and we came out for the second half with a different attitude. It’s a pity about the defeat, because we wanted the positive result that the second half would’ve warranted.”

SPAL are already safe from the drop and expected to part company with several players this summer, including Manuel Lazzari and Mohamed Fares.

“Fares needed time to develop and once he is able to express all his qualities on the field, he’ll become a great player. It is satisfying to see him linked with big clubs.

“As for my own situation, I have a contract for another season. We’ve achieved extraordinary things together over the last few years and grew together.

“We’ll meet up and see if there is the possibility of continuing. We’ll see what the future holds.”
