Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel said the Blues ‘didn’t reach our best level’ against Juventus at the Allianz Stadium last time. ‘It’s tougher to play away games now’.

Juventus secured a 1-0 win against Chelsea in the Champions League and the reigning European champions struggled to break down a resilient defence in Turin.

Allegri’s men were praised for their performance on Wednesday, but the Premier League side have been criticised for their struggles at the Allianz Stadium.

Tuchel was asked if he felt the standards back-to-back 1-0 defeats to Manchester City and Juventus, but pointed at the difficulties of playing away from home now that fans are back in stadiums.

“Both clubs have experience and players to work you,” said Tuchel. “If it happens, it doesn’t feel good.

“Did we play at our best level? No. Man City made us underperform. We felt as well prepared. Against Juventus, could we reach our best level? No.

“It is a concentration game. It reminds of Atletico in Bucharest, we played an almost similar game and won 1-0 with a goal ruled out then given by VAR.

“It was maybe easier then to be calm and concentrated and now it is tougher again to play away games. We will not be the last team to lose against Juventus.”

The Bianconeri secured their third win on the bounce against Chelsea and are now unbeaten in five consecutive games across all competitions.

Next up for Allegri’s men is an away trip to Torino on Saturday, as the Old Lady sit 10th in Serie A after six games since the coach returned to the club this summer.
