Francesco Totti celebrated his historic 211 goals for Roma. “It’s what I always wanted: to play for one club and break record after record.”

Gunnar Nordahl had scored 210 goals for Milan in the 1950s, the most anyone in Serie A has ever netted for a single club.

During today’s match with Cesena, Totti bagged a brace to take his tally to 211 in the Giallorossi jersey.

“It’s what I always wanted: to play for one club and break record after record,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“Besides, it is even more wonderful to score in front of these fans. We’re seeing the perfect Roma, a team that has found its path and wants to continue like this.”

Totti also had a special double dedication for these goals.

“I want to dedicate them to my sister-in-law, who gave birth two days ago, and to the victims of the Costa Concordia disaster.”

The Costa Concordia cruise ship ran aground off the island of Giglio this week, killing a confirmed 12 people, though dozens remain missing.
