Former defender Daniele Adani believes Italy CT Roberto Mancini should look to Udinese‘s Destiny Udogie ‘more closely’ and give him a chance with the Azzurri.

The 20-year-old has scored three goals in 19 appearances across all competitions this season, including one against Sassuolo on Sunday, after just 25 seconds. It was Serie A’s fastest goal in the current campaign.

The Italian defender has collected six appearances with the U21 squad but has yet to make his senior debut with the Azzurri.

“He deserves to be called up, [Inter‘s Federico] Dimarco is by far the starting left-back for the Azzurri, but Udogie deserves a call-up and should be watched more closely by CT Mancini,” Adani told 90° Minuto, as quoted by FCInterNews.

Udogie signed for Tottenham last summer and will move to North London for €25m, including add-ons, at the end of the current campaign.

He remained on loan at Udinese in 2022-23 and has scored eight goals in 56 appearances across all competitions with the Bianconeri. He has signed a contract until June 2027 in North London.

Udogie has been mostly deployed as a left wing-back in a 3-5-2 formation, the same system recently picked by Mancini for the Azzurri.
